Business Rates help to fund coast defence work at Bacton
Half a million pounds has been invested from Business Rates into sandscaping at Bacton and Walcott. The scheme will help to protect the Gas Terminal and the villages of Bacton and Walcott from coastal erosion. Figures from the County Council reveal the scheme was the only project in North Norfolk to be funded from Norfolk’s Business Rates Pool.
The fund is administered by the County Council and allows councils across Norfolk to bring their resources together to invest in major projects. Over the last three years, North Norfolk has paid £1.1 million into the Pool but received almost £1.6 million of investment over the same period. Cromer West Promenade and a start-up centre for science and engineering businesses in North Walsham have received funding in previous years.
